It's adding an additional inductive load in parrallel with the speaker to obtain power tube distortion (the Holy Grail of guitar tone) at lower volumes. If my thinking is correct to use the Power Brake/Hot Plate/Power Soak at high volumes you may cook your amps output tranny $$$$. If I'm full of hot air on this one be kind I am a newby who is looking for knowledge. Shoulders of Giants and such. Spence
