i think its important to factor in what the application is. in other words, some amps or projects will not make a difference and some might. FWIW, i have a matchless tube preamp pedal and i swapped out all the carbon comps for carbon films and it made it sound alot worse. the values were identical, it just took out all the fatness and harmonics. i put them back it and it was back to sounding great again. for me, id defintely go for the carbon comps in your amp, but thats my opinion. Ive found the same thing to be true for tubes, "best" depends on what your putting them in.
