I'd say that PCB are probably better for complex designs. But, I question the need for complex designs in guitar amps. I like basic "one trick pony amps" (ie fender tweed, plexi, and well.. OK black face fenders). With simple designs PTP seems better for maintenance and longevety. Soundwise I think PCB could, if done properly (big "if"), sound better.  
Recently I worked on a Marshall JCM 2000. I couldn't help but think, what will happen to this amp in 10 or 20 years? Who will be able to fix this and will replacement boards be available? I think there's no reason that a 50's or 60's PTP amps won't continue to survive for many lifetimes. That's where I'd put my money.  
ps: I agree with the comments about guitar players complaining about the price of high end amps. A Kendrick, Matchless/whatever, will last your lifetime and most likely your heirs childrens too.
