| dale | Re: Extra volume from larger speakers? the more wattage a speaker can handle the louder it'll be if the amp has enough wattage to compress the lesser wattage speaker. in other words, if the 80 watt speaker starts to compress before the amp is at max volume, then the higher wattage speaker will sound louder. this of course is assuming thier ratings are true, and not just the manufacturers inaccurate claim. it also depends on the difference in wattage. an 80 compared to a 120 isn't that big of a diff. but if you put an 200 watt EV in there it'll get as loud as the amp is capable of, wheras the 80 watter may not unless it can handle the amp's full vol w/o compressing. dale |
