| T.B. | 100 ohm screengrid resitor??? Hello Everyone, I've got a Peavey Deuce VT Series, (4 6L6GC's). Same amp as the Mace except for a couple of things. Here's the situation. The schematic shows a 100 ohm 5 watt screen grid resistor going to one of the tubes in each pair. The other tube in each pair is fed directly with 490 volts. This also feeds the resistors. The plates are fed by a 500 volt supply at the center tap of the OT. Recently I replaced one of the resistors as it had high resistance, like over 10 Meg. The amp had set a long time and I wanted to get it going again so I replaced the power supply and bias caps and that one resistor. Have any of you run into this setup before? What could have gone through Peavey's mind to put so low a value screen grid resistor? I'm thinking I should install 1K 5 watt resistors to each of the screen grids. BTW, notations on the schematic show that on the Mace model, there is a separate resistor to each screen. I verified the schematic against the amp and it all jives. I would imagaine that at least a couple of you have worked on Deuces and Maces. If so, how did you handle the screens? Thanks in advance, T.B. |
