My YBA1 has two EL34's and no choke, preamp has cathode follower, very similar to Marshall. Great little amp!Mine had next to no volume when I first got it. Found one preamp tube stage was bad, cleaned all the pots, replaced the filter caps and the thing works great. Of course I still mess with the tweaking the sound when time permits. So far, I've left it pretty much stock except for a couple of minor cap changes. Good Luck with yours, T.B.
