This is very true. We did do a 180 phase shift on the console of a Neve VR but it was "too much" and made the problem worse (believe it or not) so we flipped the speaker lead and that sounded far better than a 180 phase flip.

If I were to guess I would say that this might effect things. I do not know for sure either but it's just my hunch.
