old Fender Amps - make noise?
OK, Here's a ridiculous question - it even looks crazy as I type it....

Do the majority of old Fender amps make a sound when you hit the top of the head? I mean, do they make that "crrr"/scratchy sound when hit? (not reverb sound/a head with no reverb)

Why do I ask? Well, I have went through my amp with the old chopstick method, replaced the sockets that were no good (after trying to re-tension/clean them), resoldered any connections that seemed bad/noisy, and the amp is way better.

However, if you hit it on the top, it still makes a sound. I'm prepared to find it and stomp it out, but then I asked a friend and he told me almost all of them make this sound and it's normal.

Oh well. Thanks,

Aron
