Re: Phase and Polarity
ray,

while you lost me in some things you said, i got the gist of it. but i didn't really understand the reasons for the phase shift. all i know about it is that reversing a speaker or microphone signal, for example, will cause them to be out of phase with another of the same [mic, speaker, etc] assuming they were in phase to begin with of course. but i'm lost when talking about how the diode clipping circuit of capacitors can cause this. the thing you said about putting a CD into it to test it is a good idea tho. i use that method myself for testing audio in certain senarios. but the problem is, what do i do if it is out of phase? it's not a speaker thing, so i have no idea what to do about it. but thanks for the help ray, it has helped to widen my vision on the subject.

i'll try the CD thing, i understand exactly what you said as far as how to do it, but once again i have no idea what to do if it is out of phase. as i said before, reversing one of the speaker leads sounded out of phase, so thats not a solution. by the way, i use my rig as follows---di out from marshall into processor [boss vf-1] then from processor to effects return of classic 30. effects are set so that the direct signal going to the classic 30 is at the same volume level as the marshall.

thanks ray,-dale
