Everything sounds fine at home or with the band. I play AC30's (kinda hard to go wrong when dialing them in). I noticed that with the band I had to tewak the treble a bit, but with the stage stand pointing the amp at my face, I no longer have to. I would not suggest milk crates as the amp is not pointed upward and may fall off if you play at loud volumes.
