Relay pops when switching channels

Relay pops when switching channels
Two amps that I have make a pop when switching via the footswitch. One is a '93 Ecstasy and it's the 100B model. To me This amp kills the later 101Bs which sound a little more refined, smooth and have silent switching,(owned two and they aren't as good sounding). Bogner says those relays were selected for maintaining the best tone qualities. Can relays impact tone? I was thinking of having a tech replace them but would worry about altering the tone. The other one is a Vanous. Same problem. None of my other amps have this problem.
Thanks, Steve
