for one, the cathode biasing doesn't want to cause as much power supply sag as much as a fixed bias power section would want to, from what I've seen. BUT to be honest, I havent played with THAT many cathode biased P-P amps w/tube recto ;) Most of the cathode biased amps I've played were single ended... however the cathode biasing will give a bit of sag of it's own type... more of a compression. Maybe someone with a bit more experience on this like Randall, Trace, or Carl would like to jump in here ;) ALSO. what type of 5y3 are you using, for some tend to be really spongy, but the Sovtek 5y3's tend to be a bit stiff.... let me know!
