Anyhow, one thing I do agree with is, these inexpensive amps have a decent clean medium loud tubey tone and are much better sounding played like that. Ignore any of the boost/gain switching in Crate amps. They just don't sound so good to me. With GOOD NOS tubes and speaker combination, they are quite useable. The OTs are not bad but only fair. Even a reissue VOX OT would probably sound better. Bruce | |
