A good friend, 16 yrs. old, plays an Epiphone single cut hollowbody with P90's through a Digitech tube multieffects unit into his dad's pre-CBS Bandmaster. He didn't like his tone at all; it did sound pretty bad, even after fighting with the box for months. He just couldn't find the tone he wanted, either in the Digitech or in any of the new amps he tried. I had him plug directly into the Bandmaster, turned the tone knobs on 5 and the volume on 7, and gave him the guitar. He got this incredible look on his face and didn't stop playing for an hour. Simply taking the Digitech out of the chain and turning the amp up made ALL the difference. Even Metallica fans can tell good tone!
