| Eric Eisenhower | Shocking Chassis Ok, help out a new guy here. I picked up this Gibson GA20-RVT for cheap with a really bad LOUD hum. It is unusable in the current state. Of course, I don't know what I'm doing and a having some problems. What I do know is that if you touch the chassis, you can get a bad shock. It put a VOM between the chassis and the ground socket in the wall, and I am getting about 7 volts AC. The amp has a two prong plug. Any ideas about how to diagnose this? I disconnected one side of the filament line from the xformer, and we still have it. Should I try to hack the other side off too? Thanks for the help. I'm burning up parts trying to figure it out on my own. -e |
