| Carl Z | Re: Question to Carl Bjorn; As Jason pointed out the article by Randall Aiken does a fine job of describing what the grid stopper resistors do. The grid stoppers do two things in one shot. First they roll off some of the high end on the signal. With a pentode this isn't much but it's enough to take the edge off the signal if you run your amp really hard. Second thing they do is to help suppress oscillations without using shunt capacitors to ground like those found in some newer Fenders. As a final note the effect of changing these values is subtle but it is noticable. Particularly at high volume settings. Regards; Carl Z P.S. Thanks for the compliment! |
