| John Stokes | Re: Princeton Reverb distorts at low volume levels Well, Keith, here's the deal. If you have the tall transformer, go ahead and throw in the 5U4. If you have the short transformer, you're taking a risk of burning up the 5 volt winding. If you want more sag than a 5AR4 supplies but want to be safe on the 5 volt winding, try a 5V4 or a 5Y3. It would be a shame to burn up your PT as a result of dinking around. My 69 PR has the 125P1B short tranny, and it uses the 5AR4. I think 125P1A was used in the brownface Princetons. I just worked on a late 70s Princeton that has the tall tranny and a 5U4. |
