I found an old Telefunken 12AT7 in my tube box the other day, and threw it in the first preamp stage of my Laney Pro-Tube 50, and it sounded horrible, microphonic, etc. Tried it in the second stage, and it was beautiful, no microphonics, smooth...like a whole different amp. The 12AT just sounded beefier and less harsh than the 12AX7. It seemed a little odd that it should behave this way, but I'll take it. Keith
