Re: Feedback Carl Z
I doubt if I could hear the diff between 120k and 100k either.
The point I was making is that, to my ears, my Holy Grail of BF Deluxe Reverbs was not really stock!
I can tell when they have too much preamp drive, too much low freq coupling to the PI/driver and .1uF caps and 220K grid load reistors on the power tubes.
One of the worst mods I've heard lately about on these amps was to lower the values of the dropping resistors in the power supply rail way down, increase the uF value on the first two filter caps to 32uF to 50uF and use a .015uF to .022uF cap to feed the stock PI/driver.
Now, I've heard some awfull sounding stock BF Deluxes and I've heard some pretty good ones, but the one that stands out as the one that beat them all was very carefully tweaked by ear with very inexpensive parts and used subtle mods that mostly reduced the drive to the PI/driver and the bass energy to the power tubes.
