| Keith | Princeton Reverb distorts at low volume levels I just picked up a '66 Princeton Reverb and it sounds amazing... for about 30 minutes after turning it on. After that I notice quite a bit of distortion (heavy and UGLY) as notes begin to fade. I tried turning the volume down to around 1 1/2 and the problem became more pronounced. I also noticed that the OT became VERY hot (maybe that's normal?). I pulled the chassis and everything appears to be completely original. Can old caps cause this? I tried swapping all the tubes except for the GZ34/5AR4 and it didn't help. Any ideas? Thanks, Keith |
