Re: Plate voltage on BFD/HI-Volt 6V6EH
For what it's worth, I blew up my first set of the new 6V6EH tubes on my bench in a SF Deluxe Reverb today!
Plate voltage with a 5AR4 was 435, bias at 26ma and 2-3ma per screen.
Man they sounded way cool!
Then they really started to sparkle!!!
One shorted right out after wailing for a quite a few minutes fuly cranked while the other continued to sparkle at high peaks for the few seconds before I realized what happend.
The next set ran perfectly but I went back to the 5U4GT and set the bias around 10 watts each.
They sounded really good with the 5U4 at about400v.
Now I am a little afraid to run them at high voltage again.
Maybe just a bad set, eh?
