Input impedence

Does the guitars volume pot effect the impedence of the first preamp tube. I read that the guitar and amp input can be thought of as a voltage divider, where the guitar would be the top half and the amp would be the bottom, so you would have the guitars 500k ohm resistor on top of the 1M ohm grid resistor with the grid attached to the middle. so you would have a low impedence output driving a high impedence input, therefor most of the voltage would be across the 1M ohm resistor. But no matter how I look at it, it looks like a parallel connection since both resistors are grounded.
