First of all, thanks to everyone for the responses.

Brian, is your 1x12 cabinet open back or closed back? I know that makes a lot of difference as to how the bass is perceived. I'm surprised because one of the things I've heard about the G12T-75 is it's supposed to have "tight bass". If your cab is open back it might sound better in a closed back cab.

I've heard this "dissimilar speaker" idea quite a few times, so I can't really put my finger on a particular person who recommended it. My understanding of the voicings of the V30 and the T75 is that the V30 is more focused in the midrange and doesn't have a lot of LOW-lows and high-highs. Whereas the T75 is supposed to have a more extended frequency range in the low and high ends but maybe not as complex or smooth of a tone by itself. The 4x12 Dual Recto cab I have has pretty great low end (which I think is due to the cabinet construction as much or more than the V30's) but seems to be lacking a little in presence. A "sparkly" clean is impossible. And I was thinking that mixing two T75's in would give a little more agressive edge to the cab. But, as you pointed out, I might be better off not swapping speakers... definitely less work. I think I need to go demo some Marshall cabs loaded with either T75's or V30's and see if there is enough of a difference and if I really like the T75 or just think I do.

Anyway, thanks again for the feedback!

-Tom
