problem with homebrew

Ricky	problem with homebrew I have built an amp that closest resembles a 5e3 with the following differences: 3 band tone controls after second gain stage, long tail PI, choke. here's the problem, it distorts right after 1 on the volume control AND it doesn't have much power. here's what I've done thus far: checked to make sure everything was hooked up right (it was), checked the components (resistors and caps check ou fine), disconected the 25uf ecap from the 2nd gain stage (no difference). I don't think the problem is in the preamp. have any of you guys ran into a problem like this? what could this be? thanks, Ricky
