Re: supro supreme tone
well thanks for your responses. i do realize there arent alot of practical solutions to fixing a blown speaker in an old field coil amp.but i tell ya, an old 6j7 supreme amp repaired properly with a good original field coil speaker cranked thru a good tele is a most rightous tone to behold. ive had alot of nice fenders and love them dearly, but there are some great sounding amps out there if you can get past the hype and use your ears. if any of you guys run across an old 6j7 valco amp, fix the leaky coupling caps and whatever repairs are needed and test drive it yo self. if it aint happening for you, email me and we may work out a trade. i could really use an old mess up beater to test out the replacement speaker and resistor for the choke to try to keep the tone of the amp and increase reliability. all the 6j7 valcos i have[17!] sound great and are in way too good of condition to hack on. thanks again. muddobber [ oh yeah the two input models are the best, but the three input jobs with the tone control can easily be made to sound the same]
