| D.L. | Brown nebulousness Folks, the "brown sound" was not invented by e.v.h. nor by any one person except for maybe Tiny Grimes or Charlie Christian. Attaining a quality of brown-ness in ones overdriven guitar sound (for punk or glam or fusion or polka or whatever) is a most desirable goal; it is not made or broken by virtue of clipping symmetry- it is certainly associated with a squarish, forward-leaning yet rounded edged waveform shape. It can be achieved in a variety of tube circuit configurations depending firstly on; choice of the transducers (p.ups and speakers) choice of playing volume desired (output tube size/type, operating class) choice of uh-oh its very late I have to go to sleep |
