Marshall 2204 EL34 doubled Pots

Stefan	Marshall 2204 EL34 doubled Pots Hello, :Marshall 800 lead series 2204 50w with EL34 I have had doubled my Pre-amp and Master vol. poti via Relays switching to have pseudo 2 channels. Because of humming (always) and loud crumbling noise (while switching) I restored the amp. I also removed the low input jack and I'm going now from the first stage direct via 0,022uf to the preamp vol. pot. Now my questions 1. Is there any (cheep) other possibility to make via footswitch two sounds e.g.(rhythmus with preamp 3 and master 8; solo with preamp 5 and master 10+ )? 2. Did the removal of the low input jack with its components any harm to the amp? 3. How can I build up a little bit more distortion (if possible, switchable)? So, that all for now.
