| Eric Eisenhower | Re: hifi speakers vs instrument speakers For one, a guitar speaker only need reproduce a limited audio frequency. Anything reproduced over something like 5k is unwanted. Second, the dynamic range of a hot guitar signal is much higher than hifi. The hifi speakers will probably shake themselves silly until they fail. I personally have ruined several hifi speakers by playing through a stereo. If you have a low power diy project in mind, and you don't care about the speakers, go for it. If you describe your hifi speakers as beautiful for a reason, save them for a hifi project. Other opinions are welcome, but I suggest looking for a real guitar speaker. If you shop carefully, you can get an Eminence for cheap that will sound and work much better. -e |
