I play in an original band and a 90's cover band. While I did not grow up or learn to play to 90's tunes they do make me about $300.00 a show, soooo i play them! (ha, ha)

I agree when it comes to the older players actually having to PLAY their instruments! Since I do a ton of studio stuff what I've seen is horrifing!!! Damn near 99% of all the albums that are put out have perfromances edited with Pro Tools (a very powerful editing/recording tool).

There's two ways to look at this. 1.) Players should simply be able to play the parts (I agree and side with this) 2.) Most people edit the performances (me included) because the players do not understand the nuances or how to play "in the pocket." So what do you do?? You can either put the CD out for sale sounding like a yacks-butt or edit it so they sound pretty close to being pro.

PS: For all those Limp Bizkit fans out there, have you heard Fred sing live??? He's very conistant at singing flat all the time but in the studio he's right on the money! Remember that song "with a little help from my friends?" In this case it was "I get by with a little help from "Auto-Tune" (A Pro Tools plug in that corrects pitch)

PPS: The Line 6 unit called the POD came from the popular Pro Tools plug in called "Amp Farm."
