| Trace | Which model do you consider to be "the" plexi??? I posted this under the open forum as a reply under "plexi-reissue" but I wasn't sur how many of you would notice it there so I decided to move it here and get some opinions. OK, maybe it's just me and I'm way off base here (could be, I do live in NY--ha, ha) However, in a different post a few of us were discussing the differences between plexis and bassmans (I believe that was it) Someone mentioned the plexi's used shared cathodes on the 1st 12AX7. Now this raises an interesting topic. Half of the people I talk to refer to the plexi's as the model where the cathodes jumped together and the .68uF cap is excluded on V2A's 820ohm cathode resistor. The other half refers to the plexi as the model that had split cathodes on the 1st 12AX7 and did include the .68uF cap in parallel on the 820ohm cathode resistor on V2A. Now it seems some people refer to the JTM45 as the "plexi" while others refer to the 1987/1959 cicuit as the plexi. It would seem that the reissues from Marshall are copied from the 1987/1959 circuit. Maybe it's just me but when someone refers to the god tone plexi's which model are they refering to??? Wondering aloud... Trace |
