Jim, I used the load.xls spreadsheet from Duncan Amps. If I use the normal Ohm's law formula the current is way too high. If I use the spreadsheet I get a bias reading of 43 mA for 400 Vdc at the plate and 25W diss for an EL34 not 30 mA  
as the article says.
