Scratchy pot question

danlawrence	Scratchy pot question I'm trying to eliminate endless, nasty scratching in a Hendrix Fuzz Wah's pedal control clarostat (HOT POTZ-1). When I pulled off the cover on the pot, there were numerous chunks of black, soft-carbon like deposits, or possibly dryer chunks of grease which may have worked their way down the gears to the internal pot's shaft. Has anyone experienced this, or might the deposits be some other foreign matter. There seems to be no evidence that some substance penetrated the pot externally. (No spills, external marks etc.) Any ideas? Thanks to all
