YOu can safely paint the end bells without a problem. as for the actual IRON of the tranny, yes you could, but what Weber is warning about is hitting the actual windings of hte tranny w/ the spray, i'm ASSUMING this is because it could break down the insulatoin of the wire/bobbin etc.
