Dan - you are correct, mike matthews is mr. new sensor and is simply using another brand name he owns on these tubes, quite possibly to position them as an higher grade product than the original Sovteks. (BTW does anybody remember the "Mike Matthews Freedom Amp" and the beyond hilarious ads in GP?) This tube has been discussed here before, I've got them in my SFDR and find them to be good and punchy - not harsh on the top end. I really can't tell that much difference between them and the NOS GE's I had in previously, or the NOS Sylvanias that are now in my Princeton. Again, longevity will be key. A friend who does a high volume of amp repair has seen two of about ten pair of these go bad in the last three months. The jury is still out. |
