Thanks, moocow.  
 
You know, the cynic in me looks at this and  
says "Oh, it's just a treble booster". But  
I suspect that a distortion plot would also  
show rising THD levels as feedback is attenuated,  
which is probably a big part of the "presence"  
sound.
