| Casey4s | Re: Doin it the hard way This is one of the things that drove me nutz when I built my first DIY. I used a piece of brass for the faceplate and found rub on dry lettering at Uncle Ned's as well as a clearcoat spray. If you bake the piece in the oven as per instructions the clearcoat is almost bullet proof when set. My next two amps I tried a different aproach. I still used a piece of brass stock, but after all the holes were drilled, I made up a life size drawing with all the lettering and locations and took it to a local engraver. It looks really good and is not that expensive. You might need to get a couple of estimates. (my guy puts the stuff on a 1.44 disk to save money on repeat stuff) I was about to pull my hair out getting the rub ons strait etc. There are examples of the faceplates, and a backpanel with tube chart at << http://briefcase.yahoo.com/casey4s >> The examples are in the two photo files with "DIY" in the titles. One is a 5F6a varient and the other is a 5E3 varient. Casey4s |
