| kg | Re: EF86 Questions hello morris, ever since i tried the cascode connection using high gm tubes like the svetlana 6n1p, i have never looked back on using pentodes. the cascode can offer greater voltage gain, and lower output impedance, uses the same number of sockets, and is trick to boot. the only two things i'd use pentodes for are a) vca's and b) rf amplifiers. jm2c. i tried the ef86 and while it was cool the self-biased cascode (thanks randall) is the shit. ken |
