SteveFRe: Converting from Class AB to Class A
Thanks, again. I'm not so interested in converting
an existing amp as I would be in figuring out how
to determine if a transformer would be suitable for
a scratch-built "real" Class A, P-P amp, given the info
that's usually available. I thought it might
be informative to build just the power section and
see what the tonal differences are. But I'd rather
do it with some confidence the tranny won't go up in
smoke.
I know with my existing amps, I tend to prefer the
tone when biased a little hotter, and was wondering if going all the way to Class A would continue this
"trend".

Regards, SF
