Re: Appropriate for Lightning (3x12AX7) type?
Thanks, Ben & Mike,

I'll put some thought into the zener thing - sounds simple enough; though maybe the 5Y3 will do the trick for me.

I'm over here in the UK with 240V AC, but I'm from the States originally and already run amps off some quality Auto Transformers (240V >>> 117V). I haven't measured these, but presume they might be a steadier 117V supply than many household voltages in the US. Could be wrong. (BTW, still looking to the US for trannies because 1) I hear so many good things about Hammond, and 2) foresee playing this amp in the US quite a bit.)

And yeah, Mike, like the idea of having those two slightly different channels together, maybe switch with an A/B box or something. I played a Lightning for some time and would like a design that goes a little bit either way of it's tonal range - one channel grittier and hotter, another with tamer tonal shaping, juicy but straightforward.

Thanks again -- and for explaining things so well. I'm no tech, but am always excited by what I can accomplish by paying attention, buying some quality components, and joining up all the right dots!

Cheers,

Dave

PS - Any rough idea what the 270FX costs in $US? Couldn't find prices on the web site.
