Re: Moding a bassman 70 to tweed.
Do you plan on modding to a tweed Bassman and/or
BF Bassman or just any old tweed and/or BF amp?
It's hard to say which is better -- tweed vs. BF
-- unless you compare specific models and what
sound you want. Either way, modding a Bassman 70
into a tweed or BF amp is going to be a MAJOR
undertaking, meaning it is going to require a
rebuilding of the amp rather than a little mod
because the Bassman 70 has very little in common
with most desirable tweed or BF amps. The
Bassman 70 IS a great amp for mods and for
homebrewing your own designs and ideas upon,
but getting it to authentically resemble a
tweed Bassman and/or BF Bassman is going to
be expensive and probably not worth it. You'd
be financially better off buying a tweed or
BF kit from one of the repro manufacturers
than purchasing the Bassman 70 and "converting"
it. Just my two cents.
