Marshall Plexi Fix!
Would like to share with you all what a difference a wire makes. Somewhere along the line (might even been stock), a shielded wire was placed between the 68k resistors on the bright channel inputs and the grid of the first preamp tube. The shield was attached at only one end between the cathode and the cathode resistor/bypass cap pair. I am sure it was put there with only the best of intentions. Either the wire was junk or the shield should have been attached to ground. Probably both. It turned out to be a world class tone killer. Replaced it with a plain old 28ga wire and the amp tone blossomed. Wow.
