Re: EE Q: What about Matchless DC-30 Switching?
Reducing output is more what I'm looking for.
I'm going to be running four 6V6's so I don't
expect to have an overabundance of clean
sounds. My hope is to have a 4x6V6 amp that
on high power is definitely a small-club to
medium-club amp but at half-power is more
manageable at a home/practice volume. I'd
rather have a simple switch that a variable
master volume (just out of preference).

Does cutting two output tubes reduce the
wattage of the amp in half? I know it
won't reduce the perceived volume of the
amp by half and I don't want to open that
can of worms again here. How stable/
reliable is the Matchless DC-30-style of
hi/lo power switching? Thanks for any
help!
TJK
