Voltage switching: Where do you put the switch?

Voltage switching: Where do you put the switch?
Well, the "subject" line isn't quite what I want
to know. I want to put a DPDT switch immediately
after the PT (and pre-rectifier tube) to switch the
ultimate B+ voltages (assuming a PT with two
different VAC secondary taps). However, I'm
concerned that the drop in all the stages will
not be proportional and that it will mess up
the original proportionas of drive and gain
in each stage. Example: I don't know if the
peak-to-peak drive coming out of the driver
will be reduced to the correct proportion to
the new grid bias voltages of the output section.

Does switching the B+ post-PT and pre-rectifier
mess up the gain and voltage proportions in an
amp or not?

I'm new to the idea of voltage-switching (too
old school perhaps?) and I may not be clear
with my question. Hopefully somebody gets the
gist of what I'm asking. Thanks in advance!
