Laney Plexi plate voltage
Hi
I'm pretty new to all this so I have a question regarding the use of a step up/step down transformer I'm thinking of using with a late 60's Supergroup Plexi Laney in an effort to combat high voltage on the plates.

I have the input voltage of the step up transformer set at 110v and the output at 220v.The Laney has voltage taps for 110v,210v,230v,250v.

At present I have it set at 230 that takes the voltage on the plates from 660v(when I was running it just off the 110 tap) to 640v.I also briefly experimented with using the 250v tap and measured 600v which is closer to the territory I'm shooting for.

I'm worried that running at 250v or even 230v with the step up transformer could do damage to the amp. Could someone please comment on this or perhaps offer a alternative method. I read in one of the news groups about a Ken Fischer mod for Plexi Marshall's that addresses this issue ;rewiring the voltage tap to get plate voltage reduction(don't know if it will work in this amps case). Thanks in advance
