Re: Specs for PT/OT for Tweed Deluxe
Bill, yhe only problem is those tweed amps were wound with power transformers that were expecting to see only 115vac-117vac on the primary.
I've had as many tweeds on my bench as most techs and when you adjust your variAC to those voltages, you'll see the B+ and plate Vdc drop down quite a bit.
The reissue Deluxe Reverb PT is way to high of voltage in most cases for a tweed Deluxe and the 5v line is built to use a 5U4G not a 5Y3. Over kill in this little amp with two 6V6s and two 12AX7s.
I have a few at work and I'll check them but it seems like the secondary is closer to 355vac.
Also, although a reissue SF Deluxe Reverb OT has a good primmary Zed with an 8 ohm speaker..good for driving a pair of 6V6s class AB fixed bias, they have nothing else in common with a tweed Deluxe OT and the cathode bias of a tweed.
I'm sure you can get a very good sounding amp with one but not a real tweed sounding amp.
Now if you want to have some fun, build the amp with those SF Deluxe Reverb trannys mentioned above but use a 5AR4 and 6L6Gs instead.
You'll end up with a very cool sounding 22-25 watt cathode biased tweed Super type amp.
