Screen Grid Voltage Questions

MitchScreen Grid Voltage Questions
How does the value of the voltage applied to the screen grid of an output tube in relation to the plate voltage affect the operation of the tube? In most guitar amplifiers, it seems like the screen grid voltage is always just a bit less than the plate voltage. Is this somehow superior sounding to having the screen grid voltage quite a bit lower than the plate voltage? What would be the tonal difference between running a SE pentode with a plate voltage of 350 V at screen grid voltages of 350 V and 250 V? Would the output power be different? Thanks in advance for your responses.
