Here's another way to test........... 1) Hook up the speaker separately. 2) Plug in (I've found Single coils work better for this) and turn the amp up fairly loud. 3) Now, GENTLY, hamer a note on the low E string, a low "G" works good. The subtle hammer of the string sound not distort the amp, but give a good clean sound. 4) Hold the note. It will decay. As it decays, you'll be able to hear the "sand papery" sound of the voice coil rub. If you can't hear a "rubbing" sound (believe me, you can't miss it) you're fine. Mook
