screen stopper resistors

Gary | screen stopper resistors Hi, I'm cureous to know the importance of having the screen stopper resistors directly on the sockets.I presently have them soldered in, away from the sockets, and now I wonder if it would be better to change their location. Would appreciate your input Gary |
