Wait a minute RG – let me get this straight!  
 
Does it mean that I can use an IRF820 – no, two IRF820’s it must be – hooked up with the drain’s to 450V B+ and –50V at the cathode’s.  
 
Could it be that they could even be connected to the same B+ as the PI tube or the power tube plates ... – no there has to be a seperation with a dropping resistor and a decoupling cap – right?  
 
What about the cathode resistors – value?  
 
And no heater current problems - and drilling big holes in the chassis.  
This solid state (why is it that I don’t like this word) solution would certainly be a lot easier to implement – I’m really tempted.
