| Randall Aiken | Re: Vitamin Q and coupling cap polarity Go to the advanced section of the Tech Info pages at http://www.aikenamps.com and read the paper entitled "Where to connect the outside foil on capacitors" - it should answer your questions regarding the orientation of the caps. If I recall correctly, someone recently called Sprague and they said the Orange Drop caps that have no marking are random in terms of the location of the outside foil. If they are marked, the outside foil will be the banded end. The insulated end is + and the case is -, which should be treated the same as the outside foil, for shielding. However, beware that if the case is connected to one end, and you connect the case to the plate of the previous stage where it should go, the metal case will be sitting at a hundred volts or more.
